For all of you moms (and soon-to-be moms) out there, here’s an interview for you! Jenni Hogan is Seattle Social Royalty and, after the birth of her daughter Siena, wanted to create a community that would keep her feeling good and looking hot – so, she started Mission Hot Mama! Learn more about Jenni – and MSM – in the interview below!

1. Tell us a little about why you started Mission Hot Mama.

I went to the Doctor when Siena was 6 weeks old for my first check up. The Doctor asked how I was doing? I started telling her about Siena and how she was developing. The Doctor stopped me and asked me again. How are YOU doing? I started crying. No one had asked how I was, it was always about the baby (or I made my answer about the baby). Maternity leave was coming to an end and I had to be on TV again and I was lost. I didn’t remember how to focus on me and how to get me back to “hot”. I reached out to my online family and they rallied with encouragement, it meant the world. 12 mothers showed up to my personal training session and we inspired each other to release our inner hotness and shine. Now I want to have a place for that community that supported me then and continues to support me now. That’s what Mission Hot Mama is, where we can all help each other know it’s ok to spend some time on you and that you will be happier with your baby if you’re feeling amazing.

2. What makes a MHM more than just a Mom?

It’s a mission to be the best mom you can be starting with yourself. As a mother, we’re always on this mission to be an amazing mom and that’s mostly giving, when you add the “hot” into the mission, it turns it from giving to focusing on you. It’s saying it’s ok to focus on making yourself feel great so your children and husband can benefit from your sparkle.

3. What are your top three tips for new moms looking to get their bodies back (and get back into their skinny jeans)?

Say your goal out loud, if this is writing it and posting it on your fridge, blogging about it, or sending an email to all your friends that you’re starting on your skinny jean mission. It’s so powerful to put it out there and so wonderful to have a support group of friends who will help motivate you.

Work out with your babies. Find an activity that gets you moving, but also gives you wonderful baby/mommy time. This could be going for a walk or as I did.. working out using your baby as a weight (Siena loved this).

Take time to get back to the shape you want. There is no quick weight loss plan especially when there is a little baby that needs your energy every day. Take it slow, listen to your body and make sure you’re eating healthy and eating enough to keep up your energy so you can roll around on the floor with the little one pretending you are the same age.

4. What’s one thing that every woman SHOULDN’T do to lose her post-baby weight?

You shouldn’t do what everyone else is doing just because that worked for them. It’s such an individual plan. Trust your own body and do what fits into your life.

5. Because it IS Denim Debutante: tell us your favorite jeans for maternity and post-baby women?

Citizens of Humanity Maternity – Faith Kelly Maternity Jeans: I really liked how dark they were and I still wear them now (the elastic is great if you eat a little too much at dinner)

My favorite post-baby jeans are Rock and Republic – Abigail in Emerge Blue.

Baby Joe's Jeans!

Oh and my favorite baby jeans are baby Joe’s. I had no idea they made baby jeans. They’re adorable.

Tip for wearing jeans when pregnant: I used the belly band to wear my normal jeans while pregnant. They cost $5 and you just leave your zipper undone then put the band around the top of your jeans.

I’m not a mom but I found this to be a very interesting and informative article. I’ll save it for the future, maybe I’ll need it someday!
