Denim Review: Silver Jeans Co. for Men

by Jaime on April 29, 2011

Hayley wasn’t the only one who received a pair of Silver Jeans (missed it? Check out Hayley’s Silver Jeans Co. Review here!) – C. also tried a pair from the men’s line.

I can start by saying that both he and I were skeptical – with a denim-centric girlfriend, and a highly cultivated personal taste (his favorite brand is Stitch’s and those puppies are both nice and quite expensive), there was a bit of doubt.

Until he put them on.

Doesn't the patch seem a little reminiscent of Diesel? It's not a copy though (and we like it).

C. was sent a pair of the Nash Straight Jean in Indigo (, $98) in a 30/32 – as a quick reference, his standard sizing is 30W/31L and he prefers straight and slim straight darker styles – and these, despite the fear, actually worked. Really well.

The Indigo wash is a great mid-range with significantly lighter whiskering (no honeycombing on the back of the knees) that is great for everyday wear. The fit was slightly large as the day progressed (they definitely stretch out a bit, so that’s something to keep in mind when you shop). And at half the price of many of his preferred brands (Stitch’s start at $160ish), there’s definitely a lot to like.

C’s favorites:

- Soft: I’m a big fan of soft, comfortable denim (and, surprisingly enough, so are most guys). These were a good choice for daily wear – and the softness didn’t feel thin, unlike some brands.

- Versatile: Washes like these easily transition from day to night – C. wore these on the plane, in the city and even out to dinner. They’re neither too dark nor too light. Goldylocks, rejoice!

- Basic: One of the biggest turn-offs for C. (and for me, to be honest) is flashy denim. These are definitely a bit more vibrant than his basic styles, but not showy or overwhelming.

- Zipper Fly: ‘Nuff said.

What he didn’t like:

- The rebound: these jeans did stretch a pretty decent amount and don’t hold their shape as well as some other brands. They are not sloppy, but do tend to have a slouchier look because of this. Avoid this by going down a size.

Overall, there is a lot to love about these jeans, and the price is just the icing on the cake. They have enough detail to satisfy the trendier guy but are still a basic and flattering wash/cut that really suit many occasions.

Share your thoughts about the Silver Nash Straight in the comments - would you wear these/grab them for your guy?
