Denim Review: Marc Allison Jeans Omni Hoodie

by Jaime on March 28, 2011

As a dedicated member of ‘Chickdom’, I have recently come to the conclusion that my clothing fits neatly into two distinct categories (yes, I have put great deal of thought into this): 1. Clothes that fit my life and 2. Clothes I desperately want to fit my life.  Clothing in the latter category, unfortunately, waits anxiously in my closet; ready for the unexpected garden party, surprise trip to the Caribbean, impossible to get concert tickets or romantic dinner with hubby.  Let’s just say that these lovely items of clothing lead very lonely, sheltered lives.  My clothing in the former category, however, enjoys life to the fullest, drunk with their importance – getting me through each day in the attempt to maintain honor for Chickdom.

So what do my wardrobe revelations have to do with the Marc Allison Jeans Omni Denim Hoodie?  Well, from the moment I pulled this hoodie out of the package, I knew it was special and was destined to play very nicely with the clothing that ‘fits my life” – a new friend!

On first impression, I was struck by the rich blue & textured denim Mineral wash, extreme softness (no doubt due to the 73% supima cotton), and amazing comfort of Marc Allison Jeans’ revolutionary four-way stretch denim fit (27% elestrell p x-fit).  But in the end, what always captivates me most about an item of clothing are the details. With the Omni Hoodie I was completely taken by so many things -  shiny golden zipper,  soft (like, unbelievably soft) cotton lining,  delicately cool stitched MAJ logo, perfectly placed fabric edge fading, metal pocket rivets and even the ultra-long hoodie strings.

All around, I deemed the Omni Hoodie a winner, but there was one way to be completely sure – put it to the test, take it for a weekend whirl. And since pictures are worth a thousand words I decided let them speak for me…

Getting ready to throw baseball grounders to my son. Paired with Current/Elliott cropped cargos, oh, and new Wilson baseball glove, a B-Day present from my boys)

Dressed for a casual weekend meeting.  Paired with Citizens of Humanity Jeans and Flower Power Necklace from Jewelmint.com.

Kids Basketball game followed by casual dinner out afterwards.  Paired with PRPS Barracuda BFs in Rusty River, 7 for All Mankind Tee and Lovers Locket Necklace (Jewelmint.com).

Future Plans. I’m thinking with light wash crops and shorts for Spring – paired here with Current/Elliott BF’s in Bleach Out wash.

In summary:

Positive First Impression?… check

Fits my life?… check

Comfort, Quality and Style?… check, check and check

But let’s be serious, we all know that approval from fellow citizens of Chickdom is what really sends an item’s worth over the top. And since I am the lone occupant of Chickdom in my all male household (although my girly cat campaigns heavily for admittance), I must rely on accolades from outside territories. Thankfully, sister Chicksters delivered…

“That is so cute”… check

“Where did you get that!?”… check

“That is so soft, can I pet you?”…ok, no check – and good thing as this might have been slightly creepy… but, I would have completely understood.

Thank you Allison of MAJ for sending me such a wonderful item to review and thank you Denim Debutante for the fun opportunity!

Love,
Paula

Hi Rahel, I know your comment was over a year ago, but I’m so desperate I thought I’d ask. Do you still own the Autumn Glam earrings and would you be willing to sell or trade them for other Jewelmint pieces? Haha. Sorry if this is so unexpected.
