New Sample Sale Site: Pure Citizen

by Jaime on November 1, 2010

Pure Citizen is the new sample sale fashion off-shoot of Pure Habitat, a site devoted to fair trade and eco friendly products for home, kids, body, etc. Here is what the founder (Amy Ludwigson) has to say about

“Pure Habitat was born out of a passion for changing the world. Idealistic? Yes. Unrealistic? No.

“Ever since I was little and I received my first globe, I was fascinated by the interconnectedness of our world. I began to understand that every choice we make impacts the world.

“I started learning about factory working conditions, global slavery, and environmental destruction and saw that my purchases were contributing to that world. I did not want to be a part of that world, I wanted to be a part of a better world. So, I started finding these amazing companies that live by a different set of values and are changing our world.

“These companies are revolutionary. They are innovators. They have built health clinics, stopped rainforest destruction, reduced pesticide use, provided job training, lifted villages out of poverty, cleaned our water….

“They make our lives better.

“All of our products come from these revolutionary companies, and the beautiful thing is that we keep finding more.”

After Amy put Pure-Habitat together, she must have been inspired by all the sample sale sites out there because then she created Pure Citizen. Here’s a blip of what you’ll find there:

“Discover organic clothing for adults and children, fair trade home and accessories, yoga products, natural beauty, and more…The best part? Save 30-50% or more on all featured items.

“We feature daily deals on products from a company that is making the world a better place. You will find products that are organic, fair trade, biodynamic, natural, sustainable, recycled, handmade…

“The great thing is all products are marked off 30-50% or more on Pure Citizen that day, but only til midnight PST.

“Each 24-hour sale will also benefit a non-profit organization of the featured brand’s choice. You can choose which percentage of your savings, if any, you donate to that day’s non-profit. Donate a lot, save a little; or donate none and save a lot – it’s in your hands.

“So, be inspired, shop consciously and vote for a better world.”

Thanks to JP for getting me to post these two sites – I gotta tell ya, I haven’t heard of any of these products, but that’s the beauty of it. The smaller, sometime the better, you know? And if it’s fair trade, sustainable, and eco-friendly, with proceeds donated to worthy causes, what more could we ask for?

Hayley November 1, 2010 at 1:47 pm is kind of like that, just not necessarily all clothing-based sales. And they’re more like Groupon than a sample sale site, but still similar in the fair-trade, socially responsible way :)
