Sometimes, a pair of jeans crosses my path that is just plain hard to review. Either I have conflicting thoughts, just can’t find the right words, or plain don’t like the pair. While these certainly didn’t fall into the latter category (and I’ll be honest, I was kind of surprised by that one), they have required some thought. Why?
Well, I keep jumping between really liking them and feeling like they’re not a great pair of jeans.
The strange thing about these jeans is that they look great. They have a great distress pattern, slight fading on the front thigh and the zippers are the right length and well-placed. I wore a size 25 in the gray pair you see at your left, and they had enough stretch to fit perfectly. I’d definitely go True to Size on these.
I really did get tons and tons of compliments (one woman literally asked me if they were tailored for me – they weren’t), and from that angle, I felt sexy.
But, they didn’t feel sexy at all. Even after washing, the jeans were still slightly scratchy and had the faint smell of sulfur. They just weren’t all that comfortable to me, no matter how great they looked.
That being said, I have worn them a couple of times since my first, and they haven’t stretched or lost their shape. For the price point (around $70 retail, but I expect them to be on sale often), they’re definitely good. The styles are geared more toward the under-30 set (lots of trendy additions like eye-hooks and zippers), so that perfectly matches the price point.
You can get your hands on a pair at JessicaSimpsonCollection.com, but I can’t seem to find this specific gray zippered skinny. They had some other cute styles available.
