I love getting the chance to meet the makers of amazing pairs of jeans. It doesn’t happen often in Colorado… sure, the state’s fantastic, but it’s not exactly a denim hub by any sense of the phrase.
But I was so excited when I got the chance to sit down and chat with Jeff Shafer of Agave Denim. The man’s a force to be reckoned with – he’s been in textiles for decades now, created multi-million dollar companies and now has a denim brand that you can’t help but fall for.
While I was there, I got the chance to try on four different styles from the Fall 2010 line – a skinny, zipper legging, trouser and their most popular style (and why they kicked off the women’s line to begin with!), the boyfriend.
I had an absolute amazing time out in Boulder with Jeff, getting a tour of the Weekends store in Boulder, CO (which you’ll be seeing a review about in the coming weeks) and learning about all the knits and other aspects of the Agave collection – including the new Selvage Stretch Skinny they’re making for Spring 2011 women that I’m SO excited about! There are so many things coming for this brand that I will be excited to share with you.
But, I do have to say this: Agave Denim has to be felt to be believed. Particularly pairs like the Paloma, they’re so soft that you just fall in love… and that’s before you slip into them. The brand runs True to Size, so you definitely could buy them online if they’re not available by you. All pairs but the Tomboy see me in a size 25, and there was no question that they fit like a dream.
Agave is committed to making the best denim you can find – all US-made – and amazing pieces to go with it. And I think they’re well on their way.
Check out all the photos below – there are more back and detail shots that you’re definitely going to want to see – and let me know what you think. If you’re already a fan of Agave, and have a pair, sound off in the comments!
Love,
JP
