I think I found a pair of comfortable “skinny” cargos that I like. I’m just as shocked as you are! But the Layne Cargo from Paige Premium Denim is just a little different… and I think it really works.
A couple of details:
- Most of the time, Paige Premium Denim runs small. I almost always size up (except, possibly, in the Blue Heights cut). These run TRUE TO SIZE. Do not size up, or you’ll probably be disappointed… though if you really want to go for the slouchy look like I’m sporting, you’ll be good.
- The Layne Cargo comes in three colors: Black Overdye (which I’m wearing), Jungle (an olive green color) and Bamboo (your more standard khaki). Sizing runs from 23-32, all with a 31″ inseam and 8″ front rise.
- One of my least favorite parts of the J Brand Houlihan is the ankle zipper… which Paige lovingly avoids. I appreciate it so much, and I think it makes these far more flattering for curvier women because it doesn’t enhance the narrowest part of your leg. Simply put, it avoids making you look like a carrot… which is always a good thing.
The Black Overdye simply did not photograph extremely well (disappointing, I know), but the fabric was light and perfect for summer at 7.5 oz with a slight sheen. I tried a couple of indoor and outdoor shots and they just don’t show the pockets well.
But that’s kind of a good thing. It proves that these are subtle – certainly far more subtle than J Brand’s – and far more flattering. I just couldn’t get enough of them… after getting them in my arms on Monday, I’ve already worn them for two days.
The Layne Cargo retails at $169 across the ‘net, and can be picked up at PaigePremiumDenim.com.

So would I want to go with TTS 28 or TTS 29 with them?? They are a skinny jean, so probably the 29′s, but I’m double checking with you, of course. I want the Jungle ones. *HEART* them!

Go 28. You won’t regret it.

so cute!!
They look great on you, JP! But in a fitted way I think I’d have sausage legs in them. I’d definitely size up, keep ‘em baggy.
LOVE LOVE LOVE these.
