I happened to catch a huge break on a pair of flare jeans from Free People. Never a girl to pass up a good denim deal, I snatched them up with no abandon. (Seriously, they were under $10!!) They just happened to have one pair left in my size, so I picked them up and was so excited to learn that they fit TTS. These jeans are a very low-rise, something that I am not usually fond of, but with the super flare leg, and stretch quality – I was willing to make an exception. They measure a 32″ inseam, and are 98% cotton, 2% spandex. The stretch is a great quality, not too taut, and not too flimsy.
They still had their original price tag attached, showing that they were originally $68. It has been a long time that I have found a jean that I adore under $100 at their original price. To say I was surprised would be an understatement!.
The pockets sit low on the butt which with some jeans doesn’t work on me, but on these I like a lot. I did notice that I am bordering on these being slightly too short, which is ok as I had my tallest pair of wedges on. At 5’7″, this is an issue I am used to. It just gives me an excuse to buy heels in all different heights, and jeans with all different length inseams! But, I refuse to walk around with my pants not having the perfect inseam length. It is a huge pet-peeve of mine. Thankfully, these just need a little bit shorter of a heel.
The stitching is minimal and they use a dark orange color. I appreciate this as it does not stand out and it compliments the color of the jeans nicely. They call this color a slate blue, which is pretty accurate. I have a little bit of a hard time with the low rise, as I just rarely wear jeans this low anymore. But, for the price, I can get over it. I will just wear shirts that aren’t too tight and drop down far enough over the waist band. Problem solved!
This purchase taught me that I would love to check out more of their styles – and even though I was surprised how much I love them, I shouldn’t have been. Free People’s clothing line is always very high quality and their current April catalog shot in Morocco is to die for. You can read more about it here. It makes the traveler in me want to leave on the next flight out!
Next time you see a pair of Free People jeans – I highly suggest snagging a pair!
