Liane is a jill-of-all-trades kind of girl. She’s got a full-time job, is one of the main writers at Denimology and has been spending the last few months working hard to raise money to help Children and Adults fight Blood Cancers (she’s a Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor herself). If you’re a denim lover – and a philanthropist – check out her eBay store. She’s selling new jeans from great brands like Charley 5.0, Denim Junkie, Rock & Republic and more… with all the proceeds going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
That’s a heck of a starting bio! Now, onto the interview. Enjoy!
How did you start writing for Denimology, and what’s your favorite part about the job?
I used to write for a competing blog which I helped create but Andy, the owner of Denimology asked me to join forces with him and take Denimology to the next level. My favorite part about writing for Denimology is seeing the upcoming trends before they even hit stores, directly from the designers.
What line is really getting your attention, and why is it your current favorite?
I have to pick just one?! Okay….I would say a newer brand that I’m loving is PRVCY – I own 3 pairs, the washes are fabulous and the cuts are very flattering.
B.C. in 8DW wash – hands down. I am a classics kind of girl and you can’t go wrong with a classic bootcut in a medium wash that’s a bit low-rise. I hope Diesel reads this and brings back the Lowky B.C.!
What about your dream pair?
They are sitting in my closet in a size too small for me – my AG Adriano Goldschmied Gamin Flares in a medium wash. Someday they will zip up again…
What was your first pair of designer denim (if you remember)?
A pair of 7 for All Mankind Signature Bootcuts. I am actually auctioning them off for charity on eBay this week – they are totally broken in with holes in the knees and everything!
What is a denim trend you love… and which one do you wish would go away?
I love the look of denim shorts with tights (on other people!) – I have yet to try it myself but hope to soon. Trend I wish would go away would have to be denim on denim – in my book, under no circumstances is it acceptable.
If you had one personal tip for DD readers, what would it be?
Know your body type and buy the right jeans for it. I have some serious hips – like J. Lo is to the butt as I am to hips. So skinny jeans aren’t for me – I feel too curvy up top in them, and a nice bootcut or flare balances me out. I love so many of the skinnies out there but I generally avoid them because I know bootcuts just work better on me. I also haven’t found a pair of boyfriend jeans yet that I think really look great… Stick to what flatters you – you don’t have to buy every trend just because its out there.
