Denim Debutante Q&A

by Jaime on January 29, 2010

I’ve been getting a lot of emails lately with random (and slightly personal) questions, so I thought the best way to answer them would be to air out my dirty laundry publicly.

Okay, maybe not. But, I will answer a couple of them all while trying to be helpful. Don’t pat me on the back too much.

How many pairs of jeans do you REALLY own?

I don’t actually keep count. There are too many and, to be perfectly honest, I’m lazy. Let’s go with like 200-250 and call it a day.

Do you get jeans for free?

Yes. You can read my disclosure policy for more but, in short, sending me samples is a brand’s way to get their name out in the world. While I don’t promise reviews (and particularly not positive reviews), I figure it helps you to know how a brand really fits. AND, as an added bonus, many of the brands are willing to do giveaways. So that’s kickass.

What do you do during the day?

Well, for how much I love this site, it really doesn’t pay the bills (and it’s about to not pay them at all if Colorado passes this shitty Affiliate Tax Bill). Luckily, I have an amazing job at ShopAtHome.com. I write their blog and hang out on Twitter and Facebook all day. You wish you had my job.

So, you don’t buy jeans anymore?

Actually… well, I shouldn’t, but I do. I’m trying to stop. I really am.But there are still some deals that are too great to pass up. My rules? If it’s under $50, a brand I don’t own (or only own one pair that I really like) and I can make the decision in 10 minutes (since that’s all Gilt gives me). And have money available in my bank account. That one is important. But I’m really trying to save money (C. and I want to buy a house in 2011, and I can’t do that with jeans).

What size are you?

I kind of figured that if you read this blog, you’d know but whatever. I’ve been going back and forth on doing a full post on this because I get asked so often, but I feel like I don’t really want to stick shots of me under-dressed on here (and I doubt you want to see it either). The Cliff’s Notes: I’m a 32E, XS/S tops, 0/2 dress and 25/26 jean. And 7 shoe, if you so care.

Do you do fittings/offer style advice/Can you tell me what size I am?

I can do virtual fittings; just email me for more information. If you live in the Denver area, I can do in-person fittings. Just email me for rates and boutiques that are DenimDebutante.com approved.

Have any questions of your own? Leave them in the comments or email me at [email protected]

Love,
JP
