When you are thinkingabout denim, Express is probably not at the top of your list. It certainly was not at the top of mylist. I tend to stick with a few brandsof denim that I like and know fit me well. Those brands are typically found in department stores. Nevertheless, in a recent trip to Express forsome holiday tops, I came across the straight leg gold stitch jean from Rerockfor Express. I had been on the lookout for another pair of straight leg or skinny jeans to add to my closet. Particularly I was looking for skinny jeansthat have a little bit of rock and roll style without being over the top obnoxiousand would feel comfortable wearing with heels instead of tucked intoboots. These seemed to fit the bill!
As some background, I am a mom in my mid 30s. I work out religiously and enjoy beingfashionable. That being said, I don’twant to appear as though I am trying to dress like an 18 year old either. These jeans fromRerock for Express offered a bold stitch and some well positioneddistressing with a little bit of gold embellishment on the pockets that I foundto offer the right amount of rock and roll. The fading on the thigh area iswell positioned to create the appearance of long and lean legs.
When it came to fit, I needed to size up but then have thewaist taken in. I normally wear a size28 or 6 and I sized up to the 29. The legswere a little too slim for my liking in the size I would normally wear and didnot seem to “give” enough in the stretch for me to think they didn’t make mylegs look like sausages. In the 29, thelegs were the perfect fit and I believe that you should always fit for thelarger part of your body and tailor the rest. In addition, the rise is a 7.5 to 8 inch thus not super low which Ireally like.
Since getting these jeans, I have consistently gotten positivecompliments each time I have worn them and in general, I like the fit and thelook of these jeans. They are not goingto have the super soft denim feel like a pair of 7 for All Mankind or Joe’sJeans may have, but for under $90, I think they are a great jean. And even better, Express has these jeansmarked down 30% with a price of $61.60. Oh, did I mention, they have a coupon code online for $15 off $60
? So, you can walk away with these for under$50. Not bad, right?
