Denim Brand: Charley 5.0

by Jaime on December 23, 2009

CHARLEY 5.0 has quickly become a large presence in the contemporary fashion market with a clear mission to take denim to the next level. The faces behind the brand, Susan DiMeo, Marcy Feldman and Yalenis Cepeda, came together during a time when they felt denim was dead and the market was saturated with the basic 5 pocket jean. These three fashion minds that we now call Charley’s Angels felt this American staple (denim) needed some fashion forward influence—revamping an old classic by adding flair and fashion to denim. Charley’s Angels are on a mission to give their girl an image and a lifestyle through her clothing, whether she’s home lounging out, away for the weekend, or out on the town after a day of work—she’s always ready to rock.

The main fabrication for CHARLEY 5.0 is the Skinny Mini, which is super stretchy denim that is becoming a staple item in every girl’s closet. Charley’s Angels pay extra attention to style and fit of a garment, and do their best to keep these items special because they know how important the right piece can make a girl feel. They believe that clothing tells a story of who a girl is without her having to speak, and that it’s not what you wear but how you wear it that counts! Launched in Spring 2009, their first collection was inspired by the 70’s and bohemian chic, Fall/Winter transitioned from boho chic to 1980s Rock Star!

The Holiday collection was designed with a Girls Night Out mentality –fun, flirty, and sexy with an edge. Charley’s Angels played with wash and texture and added unexpected treatments, like chiffon and tulle to denim— to create a collection that lifts spirits and reminds people what it’s like to get dressed up and feel fabulous – so get out and party! Each comprehensive story is told through the CHARLEY 5.0 look books.

Following its spring 2009 launch, it has been sold to such exclusive retailers as: Intermix, Neiman Marcus Cusp, Scoop, Wink, Henri Bendels, Kitson, Fred Segal, Planet Blue, Shop Intuition, Revolve Clothing, Isetan Japan, Barneys Japan, Singer 22, Stanley Korshak and Atrium.

Here are a couple of shots from their SS10 Lookbook (I chose a few featuring their denim leggings):

So, what are your thoughts? Do you like this line? Would you wear it?
Love,
JP
