Let’s all welcome Yoyo back and get ready to read her latest denim review for Paige Premium Denim. Unfamiliar with this brand? You can learn even more by reading my review of the line.
You know how almost every celebrity out there has their own line of makeup, perfume (um… yeah, dear Paris Hilton, please stop putting out your ghastly perfumes along with those horrid ads with you in them!) and clothes? Yeah, I’m not really a big fan of those. Why? Well, usually the celebrity is not an expert in whatever they’re trying to peddle to me, and most of the time they don’t even take part in the design process. There are, however, a few exceptions to my dislike of celebrity goods and one of them is Paige Premium Denim. Although I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily one of my favorite brands of denim, it certainly a nice brand created by a celebrity (Paige Geller) who actually knows something about what she’s selling (she was a denim fit model prior to putting out her own line of designer denim).
A word of advice on PPD? Size up! For all of my Paige jeans, I size up to a 32 because 31’s give me horrible muffin top and exposes half my butt to the world. The denim is designed to be tight so that it “slims” you but I don’t really think it makes me look slimmer when I can be mistaken for a sausage in a too small casing. Once you take care of the sizing issue, though, this line of denim does look pretty darn good.
Generally the fabric is soft (heck, as I typed this I just petted the Blue Heights skinny jeans I have on…) and of good quality. I have found that most of the time the denim is medium weight that lasts for quite a while (although the pair I have on now are a bit on the thinner/lighter side). One of my thinner/lighter pairs stretched a bit but my grey pair keeps it shape quite well.
As Jaime has mentioned in her previous review, PPD does come in a more extended range of sizes. They go up to a 34 in some cuts (although with the sizing up, the 34 fits a tts 33) and also have a decent selection of petite jeans. I personally haven’t gotten any jeans that are “petite.”
The two pairs of the Blue Heights that I own both hemmed well so that there was no weird fading. I also just got a pair of the ankle Skyline Drive Peg that turned out to be a bit longer than I had expected. It’s alright though because they are a skinny leg that can scrunch for that scrunchy skinny leg look.
One pleasant surprise in the skinny leg Paiges is that the back right pocket has a tiny pocket sewn into it that a credit card or id fits perfectly. One of my pairs had a card in there that explained it was the perfect place to put your id when clubbing. My friend who owns a wide leg pair of Paiges didn’t find that little pocket, though. Maybe they’re just for the skinny leg cuts?
Overall, Paige Premium Denim is one of the “legit” celebrity lines out there. A pair of Paige will make you look good and they often go on sale. The wider range of sizes is nice as well. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to go check these out and find out for yourself whether you like them or not.
