Obsessions in Blogging: Why I Write About Denim

by Jaime on September 24, 2009

Some people write about what they think people want to read.

Some about what they love.

Which would you rather read?

I realize the slight irony in this blog, since one of my last posts just blatantly asked you what you wanted to read here on the site. I know that… and whatever. When it all boils down to it, it’s all about denim. But, here’s where this came from – okay, there were two places – Grechen’s latest blog about what makes a good blog (which I’d recommend reading… it’s a good one, especially if you’re a blogger yourself) and, of all places, work.

I know what you’re thinking, “Work? How does your work come into this?” and it’s a totally legitimate question. Really, it is. So, here’s how it happened: we’re about to launch this really cool wishlist thing for the site, and all of us on marketing were asked to pick something that was attainable (ie: not “an island”) that we’d personally add to our wishlists.

What did I do? I went to my own blog, to the Denim Wishlist (I know, I’m a dork) and figured out what pair was set up with the site.

My choice?

the Current/Elliott “The Legging” in Bluebell.

See? I can’t ever, EVER get jeans out of my head, even when I didn’t wear a pair today (I went with a pair of leggings paired with my oversized Trovata sweater and some flats… it was a comfy day). Some people in the office were talking about denim and it took EVERY OUNCE of willpower I had not to jump into the conversation (I was, after all, eavesdropping). It’s not like it gets in the way of my work (I’m still getting everything done), but wow.

I’ve even dreamt about denim. Beat that.

Then again, don’t. It’s pretty pathetic.
