Pair Review: Marc by Marc Jacobs Chrissie Low Rise Skinny in Turquoise

by Jaime on August 3, 2009

Sometimes a pair of jeans comes along that you debate over, only to receive them and wonder what the hell all that debating was for.

That would be these jeans… yep, the ones that were just featured in my most recent Outfit of the Day Post. The Marc by Marc Jacobs Chrissie 003 Low Rise Skinny Leg in Turquoise. They were the first (and so far, the only) thing I snagged with my ShopBop gift certificate, so they were, in essence, free.

And I really, really like free. :)

I was really excited to get these in the mail (even though the price had gone down about $30 from what I paid for them), because I know how Marc by Marc Jacobs denim fits me: well. I was surprised, these were a bit looser than I expected, which really means that they run perfectly true to size.

The color (which actually photographed surprisingly well) is striking. While it’s not overwhelmingly different, it is ideal for spring and summer (and, what can I say, I LOVE turquoise!) but can still be worn with a myriad different items.

There is, however, one thing to be noted: the tush factor. There’s definitely a design (read: large M’s) on both of the back pockets and, while it’s fairly subtle, it doesn’t actually do anything to enhance the backside at all. It’s kind of like Aristocrat’s “A” pocket… definitely just a brand name being broadcast. Luckily, it doesn’t say “M” on one pocket and “J” on another, otherwise I’d probably feel like a doofus.

But, all in all (and especially for the price… the babies are down to $70 on ShopBop now), I really like these jeans. They’re flattering, light-weight, comfortable and, most of all, they’re different while still being simple (which is a hard feat to pull off, I know!). Marc Jacobs loves my body, and my body loves him right back.
