Sundays are probably my favorite day of the week. C. would disagree, because he loves Saturdays… and loves to disagree.

But, especially during football season, you can’t tear my ass off of a couch on a Sunday. Best bet is that you’ll find me with Ruffles and a bowl of Onion Dip on one side of my chair (we have a pretty kick-ass set up in our basement) and C. on the other side of me cradling a bowl of Guacamole and some Tostitos. Believe me, we do NOT fuck around come football season.

While it does make me miss my college roommate an insane amount, I love football. One of my favorite weekly moments was coming home from my late-night Monday class to hear screaming from the hallways and come in to see her camped out on the couch (sometimes with a dude hanging out, enjoying her company), cursing out whomever was screwing things up (especially if it was someone botching a Peyton Manning play. She has a ridiculous thing for PM.). It was hilarious and awesome, and I absolutely miss it and her so much.

So, in honor of mini-camps ending this week, Tom Brady, training sessions, Monday nights at college and Daunte Stallworth getting suspended from the ever-struggling Cleveland Browns (or my desire for them to struggle because I hate Brady Quinn… it’s the never ending hatred of anything OSU or Notre Dame as a Wolverines fan), I decided to make a list of my top five denim brands to wear while sitting in front of the television watching football.

Top Five Pairs of Denim for Watching (not Playing) Football:

5. James Jeans. Other than the bootcut or skinny, these are a great fit, very comfortable and offer a waistband that won’t cut (or strangle) a significant food baby.

4. Red Engine. They’re stupidly soft, and they don’t pull at the waist. Both are must-haves for an all-day football marathon… and a crapload of Onion Dip.

3. Ever Jeans. When I say they’re like sweatpants, I’m not kidding around. If you have a pair, you know this is the perfect time to wear them.

2. Blue Cult. They’re not too low cut, but low enough so that I’m not killing myself with a sore tummy from too much food and too tight denim.

and

1. Paper Denim & Cloth. In particular, the PD&C stretch jeans. Even in a 26, they’re a bit loose (not skanky loose, but comfortable loose) and they’re absolutely perfect for gorging oneself on guacamole.

Love,
JP

PS: I also need to add an honorable mention to AG. Soft = great when it comes to denim-clad days of watching sports. I love these babies… but most of mine are a bit too snug to thrill me when it comes to sports.
